# Founder story ad script examples

A founder story ad is a short video where the founder says why they made the product, in one real moment, and then invites you to try it. Below are four scripts of about 30 seconds each.

We wrote these scripts. The founders, places and numbers are made up. Use your own true story, and fill every bracket with a fact you can show.

## The five beats

## Script 1: a snack brand

**Moment:** "Three years ago I was stuck at an airport, holding a protein bar that tasted like chalk."
**Problem:** "Every bar I found was either candy or cardboard. I thought, someone should make one that tastes like food."
**What I did:** "So I started in my kitchen in [city]. [N] batches later, we had this one."
**Different:** "It has [N] ingredients and you can read every one."
**Invite:** "The first box is INR [price]. If it is not for you, tell us why."

## Script 2: an accounting tool

**Moment:** "My father ran a hardware shop. Every month-end, he sat with a pile of bills until midnight."
**Problem:** "He was good at business. He was not good at typing bills into a computer."
**What I did:** "So we built a tool where you photograph the bill and the entry fills itself."
**Different:** "It will not replace your accountant. It will give you your Sunday back."
**Invite:** "Try it free for 14 days. The link is below."

## Script 3: a bakery

**Moment:** "We began with one oven in my flat and a big order for my cousin's wedding."
**Problem:** "After the wedding, everyone asked where to buy more. There was nowhere."
**What I did:** "So we opened a small counter in [area]. We bake before 6am."
**Different:** "Everything is made the same day. What is left at night goes to [a true use]."
**Invite:** "Come try the [item]. Show this ad for [a true offer]."

## Script 4: a home services app

**Moment:** "My AC broke in May. Three technicians gave me three different prices on the phone."
**Problem:** "I lost two days arguing about money, not fixing the AC."
**What I did:** "So we built an app that shows the price before you book."
**Different:** "You pick a slot, they come, and you pay after the job."
**Invite:** "Book your first service for INR [price] in the app."

## A worked example: cut to length

Say your script has 78 words and takes 38 seconds to read aloud. You need 30. You must cut 8 seconds. You read about 2 words a second (78 / 38), so cut about 16 words. Read it aloud again with a timer.

## Tips

- Film it on a phone, in natural light, in one take. Speak the lines. Do not read them.
- Show the founder's face in the first three seconds.
- Add captions, in case the sound is off.
- Cut to real footage of the work while the founder talks.
- Never invent a founder story. If it did not happen, do not tell it.

### Does the founder have to be on camera?

The story works best in the founder's own voice. If they are camera-shy, record the voice over footage of the work.

### How long should a founder story ad be?
