A hook for an edtech ad speaks to the person who decides, often a parent, a student or a working adult, and promises a clear next step such as a free demo class. These 30 hooks are grouped by buyer. We wrote them. They are not from real companies and have not been tested.

## Know the rules first

India's Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued its Guidelines for the Prevention of Misleading Advertisements in the Coaching Sector, 2024 on 13 November 2024. In April 2025 it told coaching centres to avoid assurances of guaranteed success. It also told them to state a successful student's name, rank, course type and whether the course was paid, and to show disclaimers in the same font size as the claim. Its notices that month covered guaranteed placement or selection, and assurance of a rank in JEE or NEET (checked 2026-10-20 on the [PIB release of 17 April 2025](https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetailm.aspx?PRID=2122361)).

So do not write a hook that promises a rank, a selection or a job. Read the guidelines before you put results in an ad. This is not legal advice.

## For parents

1. "What does your child do in the two hours after school?"
2. "Maths homework turning into a daily fight?"
3. "Sit in on a free class before you decide."
4. "See how your child is doing every week, in one report."
5. "Classes in [language], at [time], from your phone."

Use line 4 only if you really send that report.

## For students

6. "Stuck on [topic]? Here is a three-minute way in."
7. "The mistake most students make in [subject]."
8. "[N] days to the exam. Here is a plan for each day."
9. "Free mock test. See your score in 30 minutes."
10. "Study with a teacher, not just a video."
11. "From confused to confident on [topic], one lesson at a time."

## For working adults

12. "Learn [skill] in 30 minutes a day after work."
13. "Thinking of moving into [role]? Start with this free lesson."
14. "What a [role] really does all day. Watch."
15. "Weekend batch for people with full-time jobs."
16. "Build one real project by the end of week four."

## Free demo or trial

17. "Free demo class on [date]. Seats are limited to [N]." Only if the limit is real.
18. "Try the first lesson free. No card."
19. "See the full syllabus before you pay."
20. "Meet your teacher before you enrol."
21. "Not happy in seven days? Full refund. Terms apply." Only if you have this policy.

## Honest results (real only)

22. "[Student name], [course type], [rank]. Paid course." Use a real student you have permission to name.
23. "How [N] students in our batch used the same plan."
24. "What our students said about week one."

## Make it timely

25. "Results are out. Here is what to do next."
26. "New session starts [date]. Last day to join: [date]."
27. "Summer break: [N] weeks to get ahead in [subject]."
28. "Admissions open for the [year] batch."
29. "Board exams in [N] weeks. Start the revision plan."
30. "Last seats in the weekend batch."

Lines 29 and 30 are only for ads where the dates and seats are real.

## A worked example

Say you spend INR 40,000 on a demo class ad. It brings 200 demo bookings, so INR 200 each. Ten people enrol in a INR 12,000 course. The ad cost per enrolment is INR 40,000 / 10 = INR 4,000. Revenue is 10 x INR 12,000 = INR 1,20,000, so [ROAS](/glossary/roas) is INR 1,20,000 / INR 40,000 = 3.0. Compare the ad cost per enrolment with what a student is worth to you, as in [CAC](/glossary/cac).

## Tips

- Hook the decision maker. For school-age learners that is usually the parent.
- Show a real teacher. A real face is a safer bet than a logo.
- End on a small next step: a demo, a mock test or a syllabus.
- Keep the sign-up form short. See the [lead ad form templates](/templates/lead-ad-form-templates).
- For body copy, use the [coaching ad copy templates](/templates/ad-copy-templates-for-coaching).

Parents' comments under education ads show what worries them. Marxx builds personas from real ad comments and app-store reviews. See [audience personas](/features/audience-personas).

## FAQ

### Can I promise a rank or a job in an ad?

No. India's CCPA told coaching centres in April 2025 to avoid assurances of guaranteed success (checked 2026-10-20). Describe what you teach and how, not what the student will win.

### Can I use a topper's photo?

Only with the student's written permission, and with the details the CCPA asked for: name, rank, course type and whether the course was paid. If you are unsure, ask a lawyer.
