A D2C offer should give the buyer a clear reason to act now and leave you a profit after ads. Below are 14 offers, with the main thing each one costs you.

We wrote them. They are not from real brands and have not been tested, so run the margin check before you use any of them.

## The 14 offers

| # | Offer | Example line | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Percent off | "20% off your first order." | Cuts margin on every unit |
| 2 | Flat rupees off | "INR 200 off above INR 999." | Pick a threshold above your average order |
| 3 | Bundle | "3 for INR 2,999, save INR 898." | Bundle only items that sell well together |
| 4 | Buy one, get one at half price | "Buy 1, get the 2nd at half price." | Margin on the second unit |
| 5 | Gift with purchase | "Get a travel pouch with orders above INR 1,499." | Gift cost and handling |
| 6 | Free delivery above a value | "Free delivery above INR 499." | Raises the cart value if set right |
| 7 | Free sample or mini | "Add a 10 ml mini to any order." | Sample cost and shipping weight |
| 8 | Subscribe and save | "Subscribe and save 10% on every refill." | Repeat orders must really arrive |
| 9 | Money-back window | "Try it for 30 days. Money back if you do not like it." | Return rate and refund cost |
| 10 | Early access | "Members shop the new range a day early." | Needs a list to send to |
| 11 | Pre-order price | "Pre-order at INR 1,199. Price goes to INR 1,499 at launch." | Delivery date must be firm |
| 12 | Referral reward | "Give INR 150, get INR 150." | Abuse and tracking |
| 13 | Cashback or wallet credit | "INR 100 back in your wallet on your next order." | Credit expiry rules |
| 14 | Limited edition | "Festive colours, one batch only." | Say "one batch" only if it is |

Offers 9, 10, 11 and 14 do not cut the unit price. That keeps your margin and still gives a reason to buy.

## A worked example: margin before offer

Say you sell a INR 999 moisturiser. It costs INR 300 to make, INR 100 to pack and ship, and the payment fee is 2%.

- Full price: INR 999 minus INR 300, INR 100 and INR 20 for fees leaves about INR 579 to cover ads and profit.
- Break-even ROAS is the price divided by what is left: INR 999 / INR 579 = about 1.73. You need at least INR 1.73 of sales for each INR 1 of ads to break even.

Now offer INR 200 off, so the price is INR 799:

- Fees fall to about INR 16. You are left with INR 799 minus INR 300, INR 100 and INR 16, which is about INR 383.
- Break-even ROAS is INR 799 / INR 383 = about 2.09.

The INR 200 offer raised your break-even ROAS from about 1.73 to about 2.09. Your ads must now work about 21% harder just to break even (2.09 / 1.73 = 1.21). If the offer lifts conversion by more than that, it pays. If it does not, it costs you. Use the [break-even ROAS](/glossary/break-even-roas) page for the formula and the [ROAS calculator](/roas-calculator) to check yours.

## Rules to keep your offer honest

This is a summary, not legal advice. It comes from India's 2022 misleading advertisement guidelines, listed on the [CCPA guidelines page](https://ccpa.doca.gov.in/guidelines.php) (checked 2026-10-20).

- Do not call something "free" if the buyer pays for packing or handling, or if its cost is built into the package price.
- Do not call a money-back offer a "free trial".
- State a fixed price rather than "prices from as low as Rs Y".
- If an offer is limited by stock or time, say so, and make sure it is true.

## FAQ

### What is the best offer for a new D2C brand?

A money-back window or a bundle is often easier on margin than a deep discount. Work out your break-even ROAS under each, then test the two.

### How often should I change my offer?

Change it when results fall, not on a calendar. Keep an evergreen offer running and add seasonal ones on top.
