These restaurant ad copy examples open the same way: the first line names the dish, the price and one local action, such as booking a table or ordering. Below are 12 we wrote, and a way to check whether an ad pays back.

They are not from real restaurants and have not been tested. Change the dish, price and place to fit yours.

## Rules that matter for food ads

This is a summary of public rules, not legal advice.

- **Do not make claims you cannot support.** FSSAI says deceptive food claims and advertisements are prohibited under its 2018 Advertisements and Claims Regulations. They are punishable under Section 53 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, with fines of up to INR 10 lakh (FSSAI press note, 2023; checked 2026-10-20, [FSSAI](https://www.fssai.gov.in/upload/media/fboNotice.pdf)). So skip "healthiest" or "100% pure" unless you can back it.
- **Show the price people will pay.** India's 2023 dark patterns guidelines list "drip pricing", where parts of the price are not shown upfront (checked 2026-10-20, [CCPA guidelines page](https://ccpa.doca.gov.in/guidelines.php)). If delivery or packing costs extra, say so in the ad.

## A worked example: does the ad pay back?

Say you spend INR 10,000 on an ad for the weekday lunch combo. It brings 60 WhatsApp chats, which is INR 167 a chat. Of those, 24 groups visit, which is INR 417 per visit.

Each group spends INR 450 on average, so the first-visit sales are 24 x INR 450 = INR 10,800. That is a [ROAS](/glossary/roas) of about 1.08.

If your food margin is 60 per cent, the gross profit on that first visit is INR 6,480, less than the INR 10,000 spent. So the ad only pays if guests come back. Track repeat visits for a month before you call it a loss, and try an offer that brings a second visit, such as a stamp on the first bill.

The numbers are made up. Use your own average bill and margin.

## Tips

- Show the dish in the first second. A close-up of steam or a pour beats a shop front.
- Send chats to WhatsApp if bookings are made by phone. See [Click-to-WhatsApp ads](/glossary/click-to-whatsapp-ads) and [WhatsApp ad copy examples](/templates/whatsapp-ad-copy-examples).
- Pick opening lines from [hooks for food and beverage ads](/templates/hooks-for-food-and-beverage-ads).
- Compare your lines with the wider [ad copy examples](/templates/ad-copy-examples).

## FAQ

### Should a restaurant ad show the price?

Yes, if you have a clear offer. A combo price filters in the right buyers and saves staff from answering price questions.

### Where should a restaurant send ad clicks?

To WhatsApp or a booking link, not the homepage. People looking for dinner often want to act in one step.

### How much should a restaurant spend on ads?

Start with an amount you can lose while you learn, and compare it to the first-visit sales and the repeat visits it brings.
