These UGC script templates for food brands let a real person open the pack, cook or taste, and say what they honestly think. Five formats work well: a first bite, a ten-minute cook, a label read, a taste-off and a lunchbox.

Copy any template below and fill the brackets with what is true. Our general [UGC script template](/templates/ugc-script-template) has the five-beat structure. These are the food versions.

## 1. The first bite

```
0-3s   HOOK    "First bite of [product]. Honest reaction."
3-10s  OPEN    Open the pack. Show what you get. Smell it.
10-20s TASTE   Texture and taste in plain words. Add one honest note.
20-30s CTA     "[Offer]. Link below."
```

## 2. The ten-minute cook

```
0-3s   HOOK    "[Dinner] in ten minutes with [product]."
3-22s  COOK    Each step on camera, with a timer on screen.
22-30s EAT     Plate it, taste it. CTA: "[Offer]. Link below."
```

## 3. Read the label

```
0-3s   HOOK    "What is actually in [product]?"
3-18s  LABEL   Show the ingredient list. Read it out plainly.
18-26s NOTE    Who it is for, and who it is not for.
26-30s CTA     "[Offer]. Link below."
```

## 4. The taste-off

```
0-3s   HOOK    "[Product] vs my usual [homemade / store-bought]."
3-20s  TASTE   Both, side by side. Blind if you can.
20-30s VERDICT One honest line, then the CTA.
```

Compare with a generic "usual" option, not a named rival.

## 5. The lunchbox

```
0-3s   HOOK    "Lunchbox sorted in five minutes."
3-20s  PACK    Show each step and what goes in.
20-30s CTA     "[Offer]. Link below."
```

## A filled-in example (ten-minute cook)

Say a ready-to-cook curry kit costs INR 399 for a 4-pack, and each pack serves two. A creator might say:

- **Hook:** "Butter paneer in ten minutes, and I did not chop anything."
- **Cook:** "Empty the pack into the pan. Add water. Stir. Timer says ten minutes."
- **Eat:** "It is rich and a little sweet. I added extra chilli. Not for people who want it very hot as it comes."
- **Cost line:** "The 4-pack is INR 399. Each pack serves two, so that is about INR 50 a serving."
- **CTA:** "Link below."

The maths: INR 399 / 8 servings = about INR 50. Check the serving size on your own pack before you write the line.

## Rules for food UGC

This is a summary of public rules, not legal advice. Checked 2026-10-20.

1. **Do not make claims you cannot support.** FSSAI says deceptive food claims and advertisements are prohibited under its 2018 Advertisements and Claims Regulations. They are punishable under Section 53 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, with fines of up to INR 10 lakh (FSSAI press note, 2023, [FSSAI](https://www.fssai.gov.in/upload/media/fboNotice.pdf)). Have proof for words like "natural", "pure" or "healthy" before a creator says them.
2. **Claims must be provable.** India's 2022 misleading advertisement guidelines say claims about objectively ascertainable facts must be capable of substantiation (clause 12(a)).
3. **Keep the opinion genuine, and disclose the link.** The same guidelines require an endorsement to reflect the genuine, reasonably current opinion of the person giving it (clause 13). A connection such as free product must be disclosed (clause 14). See the [CCPA guidelines page](https://ccpa.doca.gov.in/guidelines.php).

## Tips

- Film three hooks per script and keep the rest the same. Choose from [hooks for food and beverage ads](/templates/hooks-for-food-and-beverage-ads).
- Film the steam, the pour or the pull. Food sells when you can see it.
- Send the script with a [UGC brief](/templates/ugc-brief-template). Read [how to brief UGC creators](/guides/how-to-brief-ugc-creators) for the full flow.
- Run a restaurant? See the [restaurant ad copy examples](/templates/restaurant-ad-copy-examples). For the format, see [UGC ads](/glossary/ugc-ads).

## FAQ

### How long should a food UGC video be?

Most run 15 to 30 seconds. Keep the first bite or the finished dish in the first five.

### Should the creator say the product is healthy?

Only if you can prove it and the claim is allowed. Describe what is on the label, such as the ingredients and the serving, and let the viewer decide.

### Can creators cook with my product at home?

Yes, and it is the most believable format. Send the product and a short brief, and ask for the pack and the label to be visible.
