These WhatsApp ad copy examples do one job: get the person to start a chat. So the copy promises a quick reply, says what they can ask for and makes the first message easy.

Below are 12 examples we wrote for Click-to-WhatsApp ads. They are not from real brands and have not been tested. Change the offer, place and reply time to fit yours.

## 12 examples

## How the first message works

When a person taps the button, a chat opens with a greeting. Meta's developer documentation says the default greeting reads "Hello! Can I get more info on this?" (checked 2026-10-20, [Meta for Developers](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/marketing-api/ad-creative/messaging-ads/click-to-whatsapp)). You can set your own greeting, and the same page lists other options, such as ice breakers, a list of suggested prompts.

Write your ad so the first message makes sense. If the ad says "Message us your room photo", the greeting should ask for the photo. The [WhatsApp ad message templates](/templates/whatsapp-ad-message-templates) have greeting and reply text to copy.

## A worked example: from chat to sale

Say you spend INR 20,000 on a Click-to-WhatsApp ad for custom cakes.

- **Chats:** 125. That is INR 20,000 / 125 = INR 160 a chat.
- **Real buyers:** 40 per cent of chats are serious, which is 50.
- **Orders:** 30 per cent of those order, which is 15.
- **Cost per order:** INR 20,000 / 15 = about INR 1,333.

If the average order is INR 2,500, the first orders bring in 15 x INR 2,500 = INR 37,500. Track both the chat cost and the order cost. Cost per chat alone hides how many chats turn into sales.

## Rules for the follow-up

WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy says you may only contact people if they gave you their number and you have their opt-in permission (checked 2026-10-20, [WhatsApp policy](https://business.whatsapp.com/policy)). Ask for opt-in in the chat before you send promotions later.

## Tips

- Name what to send in the message. "Send a photo" gets better chats than "Message us".
- Reply fast during the hours you state. Use [Click-to-WhatsApp ads](/glossary/click-to-whatsapp-ads) as your starting point and read [how to advertise on WhatsApp in India](/guides/how-to-advertise-on-whatsapp-in-india) for setup and costs.
- Compare chats with forms in [Click-to-WhatsApp vs lead ads](/compare/click-to-whatsapp-vs-lead-ads).
- For longer copy and other formats, see the [ad copy examples](/templates/ad-copy-examples).

## FAQ

### What should a WhatsApp ad say?

It should say what the person can ask for, and when they will hear back. The offer is the reason to start a chat, so keep it specific.

### Do I need to write the first message?

You can use Meta's default greeting, or set your own. A custom one that matches the ad often feels smoother.

### Can I message people who clicked my ad later?

Only with their opt-in. Ask for it in the chat before you send promotions.
